A Day in the Life of a Continuous Improvement Specialist at Novelis

What does a continuous improvement specialist do? At Novelis, the day starts with emails, paperwork, daily notes, and calls as needed. Over time, this role involves meeting with every department to identify the best ways to improve how they operate. A quick stop by HR makes sure that team is running smoothly, too.

This is a support role — the continuous improvement specialist helps other departments with their projects and facilitates rapid improvement events. Before heading to the floor, the proper helmet, safety glasses, and hearing protection go on. On the floor, machine center audits are conducted and weekly questions are asked at workstations. Hot melt quality standards are reviewed across the factory to make sure they are current.

This role rewards people who are strong with data and equally strong with people. Every day is different, and the work of helping others solve problems and improve processes never gets old.
