How Liz Found Empowerment on the Factory Floor

Liz makes more money now than she ever has in her life.

Her father originally had a different path in mind. He viewed healthcare as the definitive route to success for a woman and pushed her toward a career as a nurse. Liz briefly explored the option to appease him, but there was a significant logistical roadblock: she hates needles, and the sight of blood makes her pass out.

Realizing the medical field was the wrong fit, she pivoted to manufacturing and found an unexpected home at Tusco MFG.

The reality of the factory floor sharply contrasted with her initial expectations. She imagined a loud, dusty environment populated exclusively by burly men. Instead, she walked in to find a paint line staffed entirely by women. The atmosphere was immediately welcoming, filled with employees who genuinely seemed to want to be there.

The daily routine is anything but repetitive. Liz leverages her creativity and problem-solving skills constantly, tackling new challenges each shift. Looking to advance her career, she researched engineering programs and approached Tusco's CEO about returning to school. The response was immediate support. The company utilized its tuition assistance program to fund her education and train her for her next role—a financial backing she notes she never would have received otherwise.

Today, Liz maintains a work-life balance that allows her to be present for her children every evening. She describes the manufacturing floor as a deeply empowering environment where she is surrounded by equally driven individuals, and a career she intends to keep for the rest of her life.
