A Day in the Life of a Pressman at Freeport Press
What does a pressman do? At Freeport Press, the day kicks off with a morning huddle with coworkers to map out the game plan. Then it's time to unlock the cabinets, get the press up and running, turn on the water coaters, and confirm the dryer is ready to go.
Before any production run begins, the correct printing plates are confirmed, the rollers are inspected for cleanliness, and paper is loaded together with the trainee. Test prints are run to verify print quality and color accuracy. Once everything checks out, the full print run is set and the ink trays are monitored throughout. A pressman's job is to maintain every aspect of the sheetfed press for the entirety of each run.
Safety, awareness of other employees, and close attention to detail are the three things that define a strong day at the press.
