A Day in the Life of a Machine Operator at Freeport Press
What is it like to be a machine operator at Freeport Press? The day starts with clocking in and heading to the station to set up the machine to the correct size for the current book run and verify that all paperwork is in order. The press is automated, but the machine operator is there to watch it, catch issues, and fix them as they arise.
Once printing is complete, the product is transported across the production floor to packaging, where it is prepared for shipping. Back at the station, the next print job gets loaded and adjusted. Color accuracy and correct dimensions are checked at each stage, and any discrepancies are corrected before the run continues.
The day-to-day challenge of keeping everything precise and on schedule is exactly what makes this role satisfying — no two days are quite the same.
